"Sri Lanka is deceiving India, China is eyeing islands close to your coast”: Sri Lankan Tamil MP, CV Wigneswaran China expanding its footprints in Sri Lanka, causing much unease in Delhi. Ignoring India's concerns, Sri Lanka has allowed China to develop strategic assets like ports and islands. Sri Lankan foreign minister Professor GL Peiris is in India on a two-day visit and it’s a crucial one for the island nation. The Sri Lankan economy is in shambles, the country is caught in a debt-trap chokehold by China. But more than that, there is an old, persistent matter over which Colombo needs India’s support. And Foreign Minister Peiris will request it in New Delhi. Times of India spoke to Sri Lankan Tamil MP, CV Wigneswaran, an outspoken critic of his government.
